Our Team

 A professional landscape and furniture designer, Mike Herrin grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.  With a strong affinity and connection to the outdoor he is attune to the varied micro climates the Bay Area has to offer.  Since founding Herrin Landscape Design in 2009, he has worn the many hats that come with being an entrepreneur,  business owner, and operator.  He approaches each project as an opportunity to create an extension of the residence's interior space, and thereby increase the overall usability of the property.  Through the integration of residence and site, by way of gardens / outdoor rooms, the house is elevated to a home.  

To his work he brings a formal education and understanding of environmental science policy and management with a focus on Bay Area ecosystems, and riparian habitat restoration - Bachelors in Science (UC Berkeley BS 2003), a minor in Forestry (UC Berkeley MF 2003), and a Masters in Landscape Architecture (UC Berkeley MLA 2007).  Prior to stepping out on his own and founding HLD he had the honor of working with some of the most influential contemporary landscape designers and architects at one of the premier international landscape architecture firms in the Bay Area.
